Who is Level 2 Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Training For?

This nationally recognised IMI qualification course is designed primarily for technicians who maintain or work on high voltage vehicles and who may in the course of their work need to make the vehicle safe. BUT NOT WORKING ON THE HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM. (High voltage system shut down & re-instate only).

It will also provide the knowledge and skills required to work safely around a vehicle that may have had damage to its high energy/electrical system.

Suitable candidates may include but are not limited to:

  • Garage maintenance and repair technicians
  • Breakers and dismantlers
  • Members of the emergency services
  • Recovery drivers

Participants should have an interest in gaining the knowledge to work safely when carrying out repair and maintenance activities on electric/hybrid vehicle high voltage systems.

    What is covered in Level 2 Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Training?

    Level 2 Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Course Overview:

    • Knowledge based presentation
    • Health & Safety – including high voltage dangers and safe working practices
    • Hybrid & electric vehicle system types and operation
    • Electric motors
    • Electrical principles basis overview
    • High voltage battery types, etc.
    • Making the vehicle safe (safety shutdown)
    • Using correct tools & equipment
    • Re-instate the vehicle to READY MODE

    The course will consist of a presentation followed by online assessment and individual candidate workshop practical assessments including a written assessment.

    This is a one-day course.

    This qualification will help support progression onto qualifications that further develop knowledge of either working safely in emergency or recovery situations or within a technical role carrying out routine servicing and maintenance activities on electric/hybrid vehicles.

    Note: This unit does not prove that someone is competent to work on the motor vehicle high energy electrical system, and assumes an already good level of electrical understanding. This unit does not cover commercial or domestic electrical installations including charging equipment and cables.
