Who is Level 1 Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Training For?

Level 1 Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Training is designed for any technician or employee who may enter a garage or workshop where hybrid and electric vehicles are being worked on. Participants should have an interest in gaining knowledge and awareness to work safely within the automotive industry and workplace.

There are no formal entry requirements for this Level 1 Course, however, participants are expected to have an interest and good understanding of the automotive industry and electric vehicle sector.

This nationally recognised IMI qualification provides an introduction to the hybrid and electric vehicle sector, designed to complement existing knowledge, experience and qualifications and enable participants to continue to work safely and knowledgeable within their current role.

    What is covered in Level 1 Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Training?

    The content of this qualification has been designed to give the learners the knowledge required to work safely around hybrid and electric vehicles.

    The course is designed to deliver participants an introduction to electric and hybrid vehicles, safe working practices, the hazards associated and personal protection and precautions needed when working with or around electric and hybrid vehicles.

    Level 1 Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Training Course Overview:

    • Health and Safety
    • Knowledge about the different types of hybrid & electric vehicles
    • Hazards associated with high voltage in these vehicles
    • Basic overview of how to safely handle them
    • Personal protective equipment

    This is a classroom-based course followed by an online assessment of 15 multiple choice questions – The course will last for approximately half a day with the final test lasting for 30 minutes.

    This qualification will help support progression onto qualifications that further develop knowledge of either working safely in emergency or recovery situations or within a technical role carrying out routine servicing and maintenance activities on hybrid and electric vehicles.

    Note: This unit does not prove that someone is competent to work on the motor vehicle high energy electrical system, and assumes an already good level of electrical understanding. This unit does not cover commercial or domestic electrical installations including charging equipment and cables.
